The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has dropped its case against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, filing an order to dismiss its complaint.
This decision comes after the FTC lost an appeal for a preliminary injunction to prevent Microsoft from finalizing the $68.7 billion deal.
Microsoft had originally sought the acquisition nearly two years ago, and the deal was completed in October 2023 after winning the FTC fight.
Microsoft's vice chair and president, Brad Smith, sees this as a victory for players and common sense in Washington, D.C., expressing gratitude towards the FTC for the decision.
