The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Uber, accusing the company of deceptive billing and cancellation practices.
The FTC's complaint focused on the Uber One subscription service, claiming that Uber charged consumers without their consent and failed to provide promised savings.
The agency also alleged that Uber made it difficult for users to cancel the service.
In response to the lawsuit, Uber stated that its processes comply with the law and that sign-up and cancellation procedures are clear and simple.
