Mark Meador, President Donald Trump's nominee for the Federal Trade Commission, stated during a Senate confirmation hearing that the agency should combat companies' restrictive noncompete agreements and continue its efforts to fight tech censorship.
Meador suggested that the FTC could bring competition enforcement agreements against companies with overly restrictive noncompete agreements.
He also supported the FTC's recent move to seek public comment on censorship by tech platforms and mentioned that cases could be pursued against platforms colluding on content moderation standards.
Meador has extensive antitrust experience and previously represented social media platform Rumble in antitrust lawsuits against Google and boycotting advertisers.
