The antitrust trial between the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Meta, Facebook's parent company, has begun.
Meta is denying allegations of being a monopoly in the "personal social networking services" market.
As part of its defense, Meta argued that the presence of significant competition, such as Apple's Messages app, invalidates claims of a monopoly in the messaging sector.
Meta also pointed to competition from platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat in dismantling the FTC's perspective on its monopolistic status.
