The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes new language that gives U.S. agencies one year to assess security risks posed by Chinese drones.
If the assessment finds an unacceptable level of risk, manufacturers like DJI and Autel could be banned from developing new drone models.
While the NDAA seems like a win for drone users, the issue of Chinese drone bans is far from settled.
The national security apparatus has one year to make the determination, and with a new administration coming in January, there is a chance agencies may not do the work and companies will be added to the ban list.
