Google has updated its Gemini AI chatbot to access certain apps on Android phones, including Phone, Messages, WhatsApp, and Utilities, even with Gemini Apps Activity turned off.
Users have privacy concerns as Gemini can now access personal data, like WhatsApp chats, without users' explicit consent.
Despite turning off Gemini Apps Activity, Google may still store some data for up to 72 hours for safety and performance reasons.
Users can limit or disable Gemini's app access by adjusting settings within the Gemini app or by uninstalling the app from their phone.
