The tour bus company involved in the recent bus accident in Gerik, Perak, resulting in the deaths of 15 UPSI students, has had all its permits and licenses revoked immediately.
Transport minister Anthony Loke stated that the revocation was due to multiple permit condition breaches: leasing the permit to a third party and not activating the GPS tracking system.
The company from Kedah leased the permit to an operator in Kelantan for RM500 a month, a violation noted by Loke.
The ministry will not entertain any appeals from the company due to their negligence in violating permit conditions.
The failure to activate the GPS system was mentioned as a critical breach, with the company not providing the required GPS report upon request.
A forensic investigation will be conducted to verify the bus driver's claim of brake failure, though dashcam footage indicated speeding and reckless overtaking.
The ministry is cooperating with the police in the ongoing investigation and potential legal proceedings following the Gerik bus crash.
The crash resulted in 33 injuries, including the bus driver, co-pilot, and occupants of a Perodua Alza involved in the accident.
