Sucker Punch Productions showcased an extended look at PlayStation 5 game Ghost of Yōtei during Sony’s Yōtei-specific State of Play, revealing details about new weapons, Atsu's journey across Ezo, and various presentation modes.
The game will bring back the Kurosawa Mode from Ghost of Tsushima, featuring black and white presentation, film grain, and Japanese dialogue with lip syncing. It will also introduce new presentation styles inspired by directors like Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe.
Ghost of Yōtei features new weapons such as dual katanas, ōdachi, and kusarigama, with Atsu being able to switch between them during combat. The gameplay emphasizes exploration and discoverability, encouraging players to explore hidden areas and distant locations.
Limited Edition Ghost of Yōtei-themed consoles and controllers were revealed, with the game taking place 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima in the new setting of Ezo (now called Hokkaido). Players will control Atsu seeking vengeance against the Yōtei Six, offering more narrative freedom and releasing exclusively on PS5 on Oct. 2.
