Goa government makes Yoga Day participation mandatory for public employees

  • Participation in International Yoga Day on 21 June has been made mandatory for all employees across government departments, semi-government bodies, and public-sector corporations in Goa.
  • Daily yoga sessions are scheduled to begin on 1 June within government and semi-government departments, with the expectation of 100% attendance from staff members.
  • Employees unable to attend official sessions must participate in alternate venues such as schools, community halls, or temples and provide photographic proof to their department heads.
  • The initiative aims to integrate wellness into the workplace, improve productivity among public-sector workers, and introduce yoga in schools as they reopen on 4 June, mandating yoga sessions from the first day of the academic year in all government and higher secondary institutions.
