YouTube Shorts is beta testing the addition of Google Lens to allow viewers to search for more information about elements in a video clip.
The functionality will be accessible by pausing the video, selecting Lens from the top menu, and tapping or highlighting an element to search about.
Visual matches and search results will be overlaid on top of the Short, with ads not displayed in the results during the test phase.
The Lens experience won't be available for Shorts with YouTube Shopping affiliate links or paid product promotions initially, but it could potentially become a Shopping-centric resource in the future.
