Google Messages rolls out “Delete for Everyone” for Android users

  • Google has introduced the “Delete for Everyone” feature in its Messages app for Android, allowing users to retract text and media in group chats.
  • The feature is currently in beta and enables users to remove messages from all participants' devices within a 15-minute window after sending.
  • To access the feature, users need to be on the Google Messages beta version 12.0 or above and enable RCS chat features in Settings.
  • All deletion processing is done on-device to ensure unsent content is not stored on Google's servers, but recipients on older app versions or non-RCS clients may still see the original message before deletion.
