Alphabet's Google has been urged by the US prosecutors to sell its Chrome browser, share data and search results with competitors, and take other measures to end its monopoly on internet search.
These measures would result in Google being regulated for 10 years and subject to oversight by a Washington federal court, which previously ruled the company maintained an illegal monopoly.
The US Department of Justice (DoJ) argues that Google's actions have deprived rivals of distribution channels and partners, hindering competition and innovation.
The DoJ's demands include prohibiting Google from re-entering the browser market for five years, selling its Android mobile operating system, and refraining from buying or investing in search rivals, AI products, or advertising technology.
