Google has removed more than 3,500 loan apps from its Play Store in India for breaking its rules during 2022.
In September 2021, Google updated its policy for financial services apps in India, requiring app developers to be licensed by the Reserve Bank of India to provide personal loans.
Google has also taken action against personal loan apps that attempt to gain access to user contacts or photos globally.
To protect users and maintain trust, Google is regularly updating its policies and review processes to ensure all apps in the Play Store comply with its rules.
