Google has settled a $50 million lawsuit alleging racial bias against Black employees, covering over 4,000 employees in California and New York.
The lawsuit accused Google of fostering a racially biased culture, steering Black employees into lower-level roles, with fewer opportunities for advancement.
The settlement comes after a three-year investigation into Google's treatment of Black female employees in 2022, where racial discrimination claims surfaced.
Plaintiffs including April Curley, who faced discrimination during her tenure, will share in the settlement, with attorneys expected to request $12.5 million in legal fees.
