Google has signed a deal to buy power from small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) to meet the energy demands of its AI data centers.The agreement with Kairos Power marks the world's first corporate deal to purchase power from multiple SMRs.By investing in nuclear power, Google aims to send a demand signal to the market and accelerate the commercialization of SMRs.The company plans to buy 500 megawatts of power from six to seven reactors, which are expected to go online between 2030 and 2035.
