Google is rolling out a fix for affected Chromecast devices that have been non-functional since last weekend due to an expired authentication certificate authority.
The fix will be automatically updated on the devices over the next few days, as long as they are powered on and connected to the internet.
The new firmware update will move over to a new Google-owned certificate authority that won't expire until 2045, ensuring the problem won't repeat for the next twenty years.
Users who performed a factory reset will have to wait for another fix, as it may cause additional problems.
