Google has introduced a new experimental feature called Search Live, allowing users to have back-and-forth voice conversations with Search through the Google app on Android and iOS.
Users can ask questions verbally and receive AI-generated voice responses along with helpful links displayed on the screen, which can be useful while multitasking.
To use Search Live, users need to tap the 'Live' icon in the Google app, ask a question, and subsequently follow up with more queries naturally.
The feature also allows users to view a text transcript of the conversation and revisit previous chats in the AI Mode history section.
Google's custom Gemini AI model powers Search Live, ensuring reliable and helpful responses regardless of how the question is asked.
Search Live uses Google's 'query fan-out technique' to present a broader selection of useful web content to users during conversations.
Currently being tested in the U.S. with users enrolled in the AI Mode experiment in Labs, Search Live plans to introduce more features like leveraging the phone's camera for real-time visual search.
