Google is set to partner with Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek for the next version of its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), reported The Information.
Google's decision comes in light of MediaTek's ties with TSMC, as the AI giant aims to have cost leverage over chip production.
Google will handle the TPU design, while MediaTek will be responsible for the input and output modules, a departure from Google's collaboration with Broadcom.
Google's TPUs are custom-designed chips used to accelerate machine learning workloads and power its leading AI models, applications, and services.
