<ul><li>Google has agreed to pay $28m (£22m) to settle a class action lawsuit claiming preferential treatment of white and Asian employees.</li><li>The settlement has won preliminary approval from Judge Charles Adams of the Santa Clara county superior court in California.</li><li>The lawsuit was led by Ana Cantu on behalf of minority employees at Google who alleged pay disparities and denied promotions.</li><li>Net settlement proceeds after legal fees and penalties total $20.4m, with a final settlement approval hearing scheduled in September.</li></ul>
