Google has agreed to pay Texas $1.375 billion to settle two privacy lawsuits accusing the company of tracking users' personal data without permission.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton brought the lawsuits in 2022, stating that Google secretly tracked people's movements, private searches, voiceprints, and facial geometry.
Google settled the lawsuits without admitting wrongdoing, with a spokesperson mentioning that the company has already updated its privacy policies.
The settlement comes after antitrust rulings against Google, which found the company to have illegally maintained monopolies in web search and advertising tech. Paxton plans to challenge Senator John Cornyn in the next mid-term elections.
