Google's latest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 9a, has a controversial battery management feature that gradually reduces the battery's maximum charge capacity over time.
The feature, called "Battery Health Assistance," lowers the maximum charge level on the Pixel 9a after every 200 charge cycles.
Google claims that this feature is designed to extend the battery's overall lifespan and slow down degradation.
The Pixel 9a's Battery Health Assistance is mandatory and no option to disable it is available.
