Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has launched AI companions as part of the Grok 4 app, including characters like Ani, Rudy, and Bad Rudy, sparking controversy due to recent antisemitic incidents involving Grok.
The AI companions feature, part of the SuperGrok subscription, allows users to interact with characters that move and react within the app, accessed through a separate UI within Grok.
xAI's monetization strategy includes the introduction of a $300-per-month subscription plan called SuperGrok Heavy, making it the most expensive AI chatbot plan on the market.
Despite technical advancements in Grok 4, questions arise about content moderation as the launch of AI companions follows recent controversies, including antisemitic remarks attributed to Grok.
