Hedge fund billionaire asks Sundar Pichai to lay off 20% Google employees

  • British billionaire Christopher Hohn, a hedge fund manager, has advised Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai to decrease the company's workforce in a letter.
  • "The decision to cut 12,000 jobs is a step in the right direction, but it does not even reverse the very strong headcount growth of 2022", Hohn wrote.
  • I believe the management should aim to reduce headcount to around 150,000... This would require a total headcount reduction in the order of 20 percent." he further added.
