A 67-year-old hiker from Texas was found dead on the South Kaibab Trail in Grand Canyon National Park.
The hiker had been on his way to the Colorado River for an overnight stay at the park’s Phantom Ranch lodge.
An investigation is ongoing, and National Park Service officials warn about the dangers of hiking in high temperatures during summer months.
Despite the risks, the summer season remains the busiest time for tourists visiting the Grand Canyon, with approximately 5 million visitors annually between June and August.
