Honda has cancelled a three-row electric SUV planned for the North American market, redirecting R&D funds to hybrid powertrains.
The decision is part of Honda's move to scale back development of pure electric vehicles, reducing R&D budget from 10 trillion yen to 7 trillion yen by 2030.
The shift follows a trend among automakers like Ford and Toyota who have also adjusted their EV plans due to slower demand and changing incentives.
Despite the cancellation, Honda still has multiple EV models in development and is focusing on introducing 13 new hybrid models, aiming for 2.2 million hybrid sales by 2030.
