Honda Malaysia is introducing its first all-electric offering, the Honda e:N1, to the Malaysian market to compete in the new energy vehicle segment dominated by Chinese players.
The Honda e:N1 is essentially an all-electric version of the third-gen HR-V, featuring familiar design cues with a focus on electrification and new energy architecture.
Powered by a 204 PS electric motor and a 68.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, the e:N1 offers 412 km of WLTP-rated travel and delivers a decent driving experience with good acceleration and handling characteristics.
The e:N1's exterior features include 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, sequential turn signals, and a sporty design, while the interior boasts a 15.1-inch touchscreen display, TFT multi-info display, and upholstery changes.
Charging the e:N1 can be done via DC CCS2 at up to 78 kW, taking around 45 minutes for 10-80% charge, or 11 kW AC charging that requires six hours for a full charge.
The car offers safety features like road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring, making it a well-rounded electric SUV in terms of technology and safety.
With a price expected to be under RM150k in Malaysia, the Honda e:N1 faces competition in the local market due to its pricing strategy and the evolving electric SUV landscape.
Overall, the Honda e:N1 provides a balanced and well-engineered electric SUV option, showcasing Honda's commitment to electrification in the automotive market.
