Honda has revised its electrification plan, opting to decrease EV investments by 30% and focus on new hybrid models instead.
CEO Toshihiro Mibe stated that due to market conditions, they anticipate EV sales to be around 20% by 2030, lower than the initial target of 30%.
Honda paused an $11 billion investment in its Ontario factory for EV production and plans to start production of new hybrid models next year.
The new strategy includes launching 13 new hybrids by 2031, expanding hybrid availability to larger models like the Pilot and Passport, offering a more affordable and convenient alternative to EVs.
