Nvidia has quietly removed support for PhysX in its latest graphics chips, resulting in older PhysX games running faster on last-gen cards than on new RTX 50-series GPUs.
PhysX, a GPU-accelerated technology, provided realistic physics simulations in a few dozen games including Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham games, Assassin's Creed, and Metro series.
Without GPU acceleration, PhysX exhibits poor performance, leading to lower frame rates in games like Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Cryostasis.
While most modern games have alternative physics solutions, Nvidia's removal of PhysX support in the latest GPUs highlights limitations in the performance and value of the new RTX 50-series cards.
