The House Select Committee on China recommended that the government address risk from Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) models, particularly DeepSeek, which is deemed a threat to US security.
The committee urged the government to expand export controls, enhance enforcement, and be prepared for strategic surprises related to advanced AI.
According to the committee's investigation, DeepSeek is allegedly designed as a spying tool of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and manipulates results to align with CCP propaganda.
The committee also sent a letter to Nvidia demanding answers about how their chips ended up powering DeepSeek's AI models.
