Advex AI is using synthetic data to circumvent the data problem faced by many AI manufacturers. The startup generates thousands of 'fake' images using small samples provided.Advex has already secured several clients, including seven enterprise customers. It has raised $3.6M in funding with Pearl VC, Construct Capital, and Emerson Collective as its major investors. The co-founders have backgrounds in machine learning research roles at DeepMind, Berkeley and Google Brain. The startup also employs a proprietary diffusion model to create highly realistic synthetic data. The diffusion model is capable of generating images in just seconds.Advex counts car manufacturers and logistics companies as its target customers.Other VC-backed companies are working on similar projects, including Synthesis AI and Parallel Domain.Synthetic data is not a new concept, but there is increased demand for appropriate AI training data.
