AMD's AM4 motherboards have received a new BIOS update that improves the performance of Zen 5 CPUs upto 17%.The company patched Windows 10 for Zen 5's release with better branch prediction, improving performance with Windows 11.AMD updated the CCD die layout for CPUs such as Ryzen 9 9950X and 9900X to increase their performance.For the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X, the company set the power limit for those chips higher at 105 watts versus the previous 65 watts.Performance gains are not seen across the board of applications, though; AMD padlock a generation of CPUs that wasn't all that strong out of the box.After installation of the latest BIOS and Windows update, the Ryzen 9000 CPUs, sit at much better positioning to compete.The Ryzen 7 9700X benefits a lot as applications that use huge amounts of threads gets a massive performance jump.It is a positive move by AMD, but the company should have delivered better performance to its early customers in the first place.The Ryzen 9000 CPUs have faced a lot of competition from the last-gen AMD components, but with the updates, they have now brought up to speed.AMD will face stiff competition with the upcoming Arrow Lake CPUs; discussions have also started about the value of last-gen AMD Components.
