Web Summit is a 4-day event held in a single location which is halfway between the airport and the city center of Lisbon.
The first day is solely dedicated to the opening ceremony featuring presentations from the summit’s main speakers, guests from big corporations, and pitches.
On the second and following days, there will be talks, workshops, pitches by a huge number of startups and food courts.
All meeting bookings are done in advance through the app. So, it is recommended to create a profile and search for people you want to meet with in advance.
Many companies host their own events across Lisbon that attendees are free to attend, and these events can be free or paid for.
Each startup is guaranteed a booth for at least one day, and booth locations are organized by industry, so startups change daily, giving more options to connect with different groups.
Badges are categorized by the attendees, and startups and investors have their own separate areas.
There is free Wi-Fi for attendees at the summit, but if roaming is expensive, an Orange Flex eSIM or Mobimaster one-time eSIM can be purchased for internet connectivity.
Some points of interest for sightseeing are Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries, the 25th of April Bridge, the Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), Alfama district, authentic cafes, and local foods.
