Apple's AirTag is a Bluetooth tracking tag that you can locate via the Find My app, but only one person could use it at launch. However, now a small group can each use the Precision Finding feature to locate an AirTag. Here’s how to share an AirTag with up to five other people.
You can share the location of Apple’s tracker tag with anyone that has signed up as an Apple user through the Find My app. Once you get to the screen to share an AirTag, scroll down to “Share AirTag” and tap “Add Person” to start the sharing process.
AirTag can be shared with up to five other people, allowing friends and family to keep track of an item in Find My. No one who shares this AirTag will get notified when it’s near them.
If you want to share the tag with someone who’s not in your recent contacts list, you can also hit the ‘+’ symbol to open your address book.
Adding multiple people at once is also an option. Once you have chosen the people to share with, they will appear on a list. Tap on the “Share” button in the top right corner of the screen.
AirTags can only be tracked by Apple devices, so you can’t share an AirTag with an Android user.
In iOS 18.2, Apple added another feature to AirTags that allows you to share an AirTag’s location with an airline through a link that expires after a certain period. This feature could help you recover lost luggage.
Cult of Mac recommends Apple’s AirTag for any Apple fan for its tracking capabilities. Currently, they are at an all-time low price of $69.99 for a four-pack.
AirTags need an accessory to attach to key rings, luggage or pet collars.
