Hyundai and Kia are collaborating to introduce AI-based automatic charging robots (ACRs) for electric vehicles, starting with Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
The ACRs are designed to operate autonomously using a 3D camera system integrated with AI, allowing them to locate and connect to an EV's charging port accurately and reliably in various conditions.
The robots have advanced features such as IP65 waterproof and dustproof rating, safety sensors to detect obstacles, and the ability to communicate with electric vehicles to automate the charging process.
This partnership demonstrates a strategic effort to commercialize AI-based EV charging robots, with Incheon Airport aiming to expand its charging infrastructure significantly by 2026.
