Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and venture capitalist, apologized to limited partners (LPs) for the first time in his 40-year career after investing $25 million in OpenAI.
Khosla made the investment when OpenAI was a non-profit organization without a product or revenue plan.
The investment secured Khosla Ventures a 5% stake in OpenAI, which is now valued at $157 billion.
Khosla envisions that AI could lead to free doctors, tutors, and lawyers within a decade.
