Apple is reported to be planning a significant improvement to the display technology on its Macbook Pro laptop models by introducing OLED panel displays to provide better brightness, contrast and power efficiency.
Apple's technology uses a hybrid OLED panel on its iPad Pro, so the same is being developed for the MacBook Pro.
The current MacBook Pro comes with a mini-LED screen but the MacBook Pro with this technology represents a significant upgrade.
Bloomberg researcher Mark Gurman has claimed that the true revision of the MacBook Pro for the OLED screen could launch as soon as 2026 while making it noticeably thinner.
The new display uses smaller, thinner and adhesive materials, and Apple's display is thinner than their OLED versions.
The Elec's report states that Apple will delay the launch of the OLED MacBook Air; the release date will be 2029.
Instead of using OLED screens, Apple will include an improved display in 2027 to sell in the MacBook Air.
Though the new display will be an improvement, it will not be an OLED and this has disappointed users who have been waiting for the OLED version.
Apple's OLED MacBook Pros could provide a significant upgrade and an opportunity for the company to bring out a class-leading OLED laptop.
However, the wait for Apple’s lightest laptop becomes lengthy with the delay of the OLED MacBook Air.
