iFixit has shared a teardown video criticizing the Switch 2 Pro controller for its difficult internal component access and older potentiometer-based joysticks prone to drift issues.
The Pro 2 controller requires forcefully removing a faceplate held by adhesive tape before accessing the battery, which iFixit calls a 'piss-poor excuse for a controller.'
The controller's joysticks, although modular for potential third-party replacements, may still require extensive disassembly and replacement of adhesive tape after DIY upgrades.
Cheaper alternatives to the Switch 2 Pro controller offer better performance, durability, and easier battery and joystick replacements.
