IIT Kanpur alumnus fails 17 times before building a Rs 40,000 crore startup

  • Ankush Sachdeva, founder of ShareChat, failed 17 times before hitting the jackpot with the vernacular social media platform. Sachdeva completed his B.Tech.  from IIT Kanpur in 2015 and interned at Microsoft.
  • Sachdeva recognized the need for a platform that would connect users from smaller towns and cities in India where Facebook and other platforms were not user-friendly due to the English language complexity.
  • ShareChat, available in 15 languages, has a footprint of over 350 million monthly active users & is valued at around $5 billion which is more than Rs 40,000 crores.
  • Ankush's story is inspiring as it showcases his perseverance and resilience in building a successful business despite facing failures in his previous attempts.
