India and Chile have concluded the first round of negotiations for a comprehensive free trade agreement between the two countries to deepen economic engagement and trade ties.
The proposed comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) aims to expand upon the existing preferential trade agreement (PTA) between India and Chile.
Bilateral trade between India and Chile is modest, with India's exports to Chile decreasing by 2.46% in 2024-25 to $1.15 billion, while imports grew by 72% to $2.60 billion.
The CEPA will cover sectors such as digital services, investment promotion, MSMEs, and critical minerals and aims to enhance trade relations between the two nations.
