India has emerged as the world's top rice producer with an estimated production of over 149 million tonnes, surpassing China.
The shift in rice production has been attributed to factors like increased irrigation coverage, procurement incentives, and climate-resilient varieties.
The combined acreage of paddy in India's three seasons increased to nearly 51 million hectares, leading to higher rice production.
India's wheat production has also increased significantly, but it remains in the second position globally behind China.
