India has initiated an anti-dumping probe into the import of polyethylene from Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The probe follows a complaint by the Chemicals and Petrochemicals Association of India regarding the impact of dumped imports of Linear-Density Polyethylene on the domestic industry.
The anti-dumping investigation aims to determine the existence, degree, and effect of the dumping, with a possible recommendation for the imposition of levies on imports if material injury to domestic players is established.
India conducts anti-dumping probes to protect domestic industries from cheap imports and ensure fair trading practices, with the finance ministry making the final decision on imposing duties.
