The Indian government is considering subsidies for electronic component manufacturers and reductions in import tariffs to promote Apple production in the country.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT has proposed providing at least 230 billion rupees ($2.7 billion) in support to manufacturers of components like batteries and camera parts.
The ministry has also recommended reducing tariffs on electronic components, which will help lower production costs.
The final decision on these proposals will be made by the cabinet, and if approved, details may be announced in the upcoming budget in February.
