India has revised its proposed retaliatory duties against the US over steel and aluminium tariffs imposed by the US first at 25% and then increased to 50%.
India reserves the right to adjust products and tariff rates in response to the US tariff rate increase, as stated by the WTO.
The proposed suspension of concessions by India would impact $7.6 billion imports into the US, resulting in duty collection of $3.82 billion.
The proposal becomes crucial as India and the US are in talks for a Bilateral Trade Agreement, with an Indian team expected to visit Washington for trade discussions.
