India has requested consultations with Indonesia under the World Trade Organisation rules on the extension of safeguard measures by Indonesia on cotton yarn.
India proposed the consultations to be held virtually from June 10-13, 2025, or on a mutually convenient date and time.
The request for consultations is made pursuant to a provision of the WTO's Agreement on Safeguards to review information and exchange views on the extension of the safeguard measure.
These consultations are not part of the WTO's dispute settlement system, and India reserves all its rights under the WTO's safeguard agreement.
