India will not offer any reduction in import duty on British wines and limited relief on UK beer under the free trade agreement with the UK.
Other agricultural products excluded from duty concessions by India include dairy products, apples, cheese, oats, animals, and vegetable oils.
The FTA between India and the UK will reduce duties on UK whiskey and gin gradually over ten years but will not grant duty concessions on wines to avoid pressure from the EU.
The FTA signing between India and the UK is expected to take over 15 months to come into force, with legal scrubbing of the text currently underway.
