The reciprocal tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump will have a severe adverse impact on Indian seafood exports to the US market.
Shrimps accounted for 92% of the total seafood exports to the US, and India is the largest supplier of shrimps to the US market.
The higher tariffs on Indian seafood exports come into effect from April 9, causing distress and putting Indian exporters at a disadvantage compared to South American suppliers.
The estimated tariff impact on Indian exporters is around Rs 600 crore, causing a significant financial burden on the industry.
