The Indian online video sector witnessed a surge, with 6.1 trillion minutes of consumption recorded in a 15-month period starting from January 2022, according to a report by Media Partners Asia (MPA).
Premium VOD (video-on-demand) category accounted for a 12 percent share, with YouTube remaining dominant at 88 percent.
The next 6-12 months will be crucial for the OTT sector as platforms aim to strike a balance between monetization, profitability, and content investment, says Mihir Shah, MPA India vice president.
