India's advanced artillery gun ATAGS, designed by ARDE in Pune, has been declared a 'mission mode success' by the Defence Ministry.
The ATAGS has a maximum range of 48 km and the project, initiated in 2012, was completed in 12 years, encompassing design, manufacturing, testing, and induction.
Contracts worth Rs 6,900 crore were signed for the procurement of 155mm/52 Calibre ATAGS and High Mobility Vehicle 6x6 Gun Towing Vehicles to enhance the Indian Army's artillery capabilities.
The ATAGS will replace vintage guns, improve artillery capabilities, and strengthen Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defense. It features an all-electric drive for reliable performance across various terrains.
