India’s advanced artillery gun ATAGS a ‘mission mode success’: Defence Ministry

  • India's advanced artillery gun ATAGS, designed by ARDE in Pune, has been declared a 'mission mode success' by the Defence Ministry.
  • The ATAGS has a maximum range of 48 km and the project, initiated in 2012, was completed in 12 years, encompassing design, manufacturing, testing, and induction.
  • Contracts worth Rs 6,900 crore were signed for the procurement of 155mm/52 Calibre ATAGS and High Mobility Vehicle 6x6 Gun Towing Vehicles to enhance the Indian Army's artillery capabilities.
  • The ATAGS will replace vintage guns, improve artillery capabilities, and strengthen Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defense. It features an all-electric drive for reliable performance across various terrains.
