India's Advanced Artillery Gun System Exemplary Mission Mode Success: Defence Ministry

  • The Defence Ministry has announced the success of India's Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS), designed to replace vintage and smaller calibre guns, enhancing the artillery capabilities of the Indian Army.
  • The ATAGS, developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), has a maximum range of 48 kilometers and was completed from design to manufacturing, testing, and induction within 12 years.
  • Contracts were signed with Bharat Forge Limited and Tata Advanced System Limited for the procurement of 155mm/52 Calibre ATAGS and High Mobility Vehicle 6x6 Gun Towing Vehicles at a total cost of approximately Rs 6,900 crore.
  • The ATAGS, described as a flagship artillery system, will contribute to the Indian Army's artillery modernization and Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defense with all-electric drive for reliable performance in various terrains.
