The commissioning of India's Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) is expected to take place by 2026.
The PFBR will be the second stage of India's three-stage nuclear programme, aiming to recycle spent fuel and reduce radioactive waste inventory.
This reactor will use plutonium-based mixed oxide as fuel and liquid sodium as coolant, while also using spent fuel from Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors.
India plans to increase its nuclear power capacity to 22.48 GW by 2031-32, with the PFBR playing a crucial role in the country's nuclear program.
